China successfully launched the first satellite for large-scale project

China launched the first Hongyun project satellite on Saturday, providing for the creation of a network of satellites in low-Earth orbit to provide remote regions with a stable Internet connection.

The launch was carried out with the help of the Changzheng-11 launch vehicle at 7.51 local time from the Jiuquan space center in the north-west of the country. Some time after launch, the satellite successfully entered a predetermined orbit.

By 2025, China intends to put into low earth orbit 156 small satellites to provide Internet connection to areas with a low signal level or adverse environmental conditions, primarily mountainous and desert areas, as well as airplanes and ships.

It is expected that other countries will be able to use this network of satellites.
