The European Union and the United States are discussing the possibility of creating a trade agreement on industrial goods, said European Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström.

“We are discussing whether we can have a smaller trade agreement focused on manufactured goods,” she said.

According to Malmström, the process of finalizing the draft mandate for the negotiations on the removal of tariffs for manufactured goods from the United States is in the process of being submitted for approval by the EU countries.

In the summer of 2018, US President Donald Trump and the head of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker, agreed to refrain from new protectionist measures during the trade negotiations between Washington and Brussels. Earlier, the European Union resorted to import tariffs on import tariffs that the Trump administration installed on imported steel and aluminum from EU member states.
