Powerful explosion has thundered in the center of Paris

According to local police, the incident occurred around nine in the morning local time in the ninth arrondissement of the French capital. After the explosion, a fire broke out in a bakery located on the first floor of the building at the corner of Trevis and Saint-Cecile, in the neighboring buildings the windows were broken, BFMTV reported. 

According to the channel France Info, citing the police, at least 20 people were injured in the explosion. 

In place of emergency rescue service. Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, Interior Minister Christophe Castaner and Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo also arrived there. 

According to preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was a gas leak. Circumstances are being investigated. 
It is noted that the state of emergency is in no way connected with the regular protest actions of the “yellow vests” that are to be held today in Paris.
