Trump said that only wall will stop migrants
US President Donald Trump, against the background of information about a new caravan of migrants from Honduras, said that only the wall could stop them, and called for an end to the shutdown.
Earlier, the media reported that the new caravan of migrants went on Tuesday from the city of San Pedro Sula in Honduras in the direction of the United States. The number of migrants moving in the composition of the caravan is not yet known. Some media reports that the caravan has more than 500 people.
“A big new Caravan is heading up to our Southern Border from Honduras. Tell Nancy (Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi – Ed.) and Chuck (Leader of the Democratic Party in the Senate Chuck Schumer – Ed.) that a drone flying around will not stop them. Only a Wall will work. Only a Wall, or Steel Barrier, will keep our Country safe! Stop playing political games and end the Shutdown!” Trump wrote on Twitter.
A number of US departments, including the State Department, the Ministry of Justice, the Department of Homeland Security, Transport and Agriculture, have been working in a reduced mode since December 22. The reason for the shutdown became disagreements between the president and the Democratic Party over the financing of security measures on the southern border.
Trump, for whom the construction of the wall on the border with Mexico was one of the pre-election promises, demands to allocate 5.7 billion dollars for it, refusing to sign the budget otherwise. The democrats, who received a majority in the House of Representatives as a result of the November elections, are ready to allocate no more than 1.3 billion additional funds.
